Help Guide the Future of Recreation Centers

For over a century, Denver’s recreation centers have been where life happens. Denver is evolving and so are the ways people recreate. Our facilities need to adjust to keep pace with the city’s energy, diversity and creativity. What should guide our investment of the next 20 to 30 years? Join us to share your priorities for Denver’s Recreation Centers and Pools!

Don’t live near these meeting areas below? Don’t worry! We will aim to visit various areas of the city throughout this process. For this phase, we are offering two in-person options and one virtual option to learn more and weigh in. Later this year, we will have additional open houses at different recreation centers.

Can’t make it to an upcoming meeting? Visit the project webpage to learn more and keep an eye out for the virtual survey launching May 27. Continue reading Help Guide the Future of Recreation Centers

Sidewalk discussions coming soon!

There are at least three ways to engage with Denver’s “Sidewalk Implementation Plan” (SIP) ! (This is a big deal. See our previous post and check out the Denver government’s information.)

1. Wednesday, February 4: Telephone Town Hall, 6-7 p.m.

Residents can dial into our town hall to receive a brief overview of  Denver’s Sidewalk Program and what we will accomplish with the SIP, as well as answer a few survey questions, and learn how to access our state of the system report online.

 JOIN: Dial 855-756-7520; Ext.128993#

 2. Wednesday, February 11: Zoom Webinar, 6-7 p.m.

DOTI invites the public to join our Zoom Webinar for a deeper dive into the Sidewalk Implementation Plan and State of the System Report and provide input.

JOIN: bit.ly/SIPZoomWebinar

3. Online Survey Open Now

Residents can access our state-of-the-system report now at www.denvergov.org/SOTS and provide input into the SIP by taking a brief survey open through mid-March.

Questions? Comments? Email sidewalks@denvergov.org, or leave a voicemail on the project hotline at 720-337-6380.

Sidewalk implementation plan – time to pay attention?

The Denver Sidewalk implementation plan is now in the planning stages. Learn more at this link. Clicking further gets you to this  site.

Upon eyeballing the neighborhood sidewalks, I was under the vague impression that the  new sidewalk initiative would largely bypass our neighborhood, since I wasn’t  aware of anything  missing or in obvious disrepair.  Maybe not! Here’s a quote: “This State of the System report defines a deficient sidewalk as a sidewalk that is less than 5 feet wide. ” But they also consider curb ramps, curb and gutter setup, and a list of exclusions. Stay tuned for details!

There’s no immediate danger of work crews showing up in front of your house. Apparently they’re going to take all of 2026 just in developing plans. But plans will lead to action, so you might want to think about this , take the survey, and give your input.

St. Anne’s invites us to a celebration

St. Anne’s Episcopal School has sent us the following notice of a celebration of their 75th anniversary! It will be this Saturday, September 20. They suggest places to park, but of course for many in our neighborhood it will be within walking distance.

– – – – – – –

Dear Neighbors,

We wanted to remind you that St. Anne’s will be hosting a special event this Saturday, from 4:00–7:00 PM, in celebration of our 75th anniversary. During the day, you may notice some catering deliveries, and in the late afternoon, there will be increased traffic in the neighborhood as guests arrive.

To help minimize disruption, we will have our Director of Security on-site, along with an off-duty police officer assisting with traffic flow and patrolling the neighborhood to ensure that driveways remain clear and accessible. We have communicated with all guests multiple times about parking and have strongly encouraged them to use the lot next to the school.

In addition, we have rented the parking lot at Christ Church Denver on University Avenue, and asked guests who are able, to park there and walk over.

Thank you for your continued grace as we mark this milestone in our school’s story and in the foundational history of this neighborhood.
