Good Afternoon District 5 and 6 Community,
I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday! I wanted to provide some additional context for the invitation that I sent over last week. First, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sterling Simms, I am the Operations Coordinator for Mayor Mike Johnston’s Office. I am so excited to serve as the Senior Outreach Manager of the Mayor’s Office for City Council Districts 2, 4, 5, and 6!
On Thursday I sent over an invitation to our Community Conversation on Safety, scheduled for Tuesday, June 4th from 5:00-6:30, which will be hosted at the George Washington High School cafeteria. We would love for you and your neighbors to come join us! This event is a part of a series that we are hosting across the city with an emphasis on neighborhood safety. As we work on our 2024 City-wide Goals, we are looking to hear from the community on what the City is doing to keep your neighborhoods safe, what is going well, what needs improvement, and what ideas you have to make our city a safer, more vibrant place. I have attached two fliers to this email, one in English and one in Spanish where you can find event details and a QR code to RSVP. Please feel free to share these fliers within the District 5 & 6 community.
We really want to center these conversations around the community members who call District 5 & 6 their home. That is why these conversations will be in a roundtable format with City leaders, including the Mayor and Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer, and Councilman Paul Kashmann. Attendees will get the opportunity to speak directly with the Mayor, Councilmembers, and agency leaders on their concerns and hopes for a safer city. We will also have several departments present who will be providing resources to critical city services.
Language interpretation is available for those who may need it. We ask that interpretation requests be submitted to this email in advance to ensure coordination with our interpreters. Seating is limited, so we do suggest folks RSVP using this link.
